Sub-Agent – Permanent - Glasgow
Boyd Recruitment are recruiting for a civil engineering contractor who are looking to add a Sub-Agent to their team to support the management team in organising the day to day running of site, supervising operatives and managing client meetings across small value works packages.
This would ideally suit candidates ready to make the step into management from Site Engineer or someone in a similar role who is looking for more variety in terms of project experience.
The Job
The Sub-Agent will manage employees and contractors on site and keep all paperwork up to date. Following all safety, quality, and environmental procedures in conjunction with the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan, Quality Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan.
- Maintain awareness of programme constraints and drive works to meet targets
- Organisation and coordination of all labour on site including specialist contractors
- Order materials and plant in a manner to suit the programme
- Control of plant hire and maintenance and security of same
- Ensure all plant and machines are used efficiently and safely on site
- Responsible for quality of workmanship in all areas on site
- Ensure that all setting out information is provided correctly; to set out
- Continuously assess accuracy of all works
- Keep site records and registers up to date and maintain filing system
- Control of works on site in conjunction with other members of site management team
- Maintain safety, quality and environmental records
- Responsible for compliance with the Construction Phase Health and Safety, Quality Management, and Environmental Management Plans
- Strive to reduce costs and complete contract within budget
- Undertake all duties in accordance with Company Business Management System
- Maintain company profile on quality
- Undertake responsibilities relating to Community Benefits as required
The Candidate
The successful Sub-Agent will have previous civils experience within the construction industry and previous management/supervisory experience.
- Ideally degree educated - BEng Civil Engineering or industry equivalent
- Experienced in dealing with engineering staff, direct labour and sub-contractors
- Able to communicate at all levels and build and maintain strong working relationships
- Knowledgeable in setting out
- Willing to mentor and develop more junior staff
- Valid CSCS card
- SMSTS 5 day
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety in construction
- First aid training (desirable)
- Valid driving licence
- Flexibility and willingness to travel as required
