Sub Agent – Civil Engineering

£38000-£45000 + Bonus

Are you a driven civil engineering professional ready to take the next step in your career? We are recruiting for a trusted name in heavy civils and energy-sector works, delivering complex infrastructure and substation projects across Scotland.

This is a genuine opportunity for a capable Sub Agent or experienced Site Engineer looking to step up into more responsibility.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll already be operating as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer within a civils environment and comfortable managing sections of works independently.

You understand that strong planning, safety compliance and commercial awareness are what separate good projects from great ones. You’re organised, proactive, and ready to grow into a future Site Agent role.

What You’ll Be Doing

Site Delivery

• Support the Site Agent in the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of works

• Take responsibility for specific sections or packages of work

• Coordinate subcontractors, plant and labour to ensure programme targets are achieved

• Maintain daily site records and contribute to reporting

Health, Safety & Environmental

• Ensure works are delivered in full compliance with CDM regulations

• Assist in the production and implementation of CPPs, RAMS and site documentation

• Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks and briefings

• Monitor subcontractor compliance and environmental controls

Programme & Quality Control

• Assist with short-term planning and lookahead programmes

• Use Asta Powerproject / Primavera P6 / MS Project to monitor progress

• Implement ITPs and ensure works meet specification and quality standards

• Identify and escalate potential delays or issues early

Commercial Support

• Assist with procurement of plant, materials and subcontractors

• Support cost control, forecasting and valuations

• Identify and record variations where applicable

Stakeholder & Team Coordination

• Liaise with client representatives, engineers and utility partners

• Attend site meetings and contribute to progress updates

• Supervise engineers and site teams to maintain high standards

What You Bring

• Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or relevant experience

• Experience within a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or similar role in heavy civils

• Strong understanding of H&S legislation and quality procedures

• Experience with construction programming tools

• Good commercial awareness and reporting skills

• Flexibility to travel or work away when required
