Vacancy: Mechanical Engineer / Piping Designer
Boyd Recruitment are currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer Piping Designer for a multi-disciplinary engineering design consultancy that operate across the petrochemical sector.
Our client has been in operation for over 30 years and specialise in Fuel storage, distribution systems, tank farms and bulk fuel terminals.
Due to an increased workload for the upcoming year, they are looking to engage a Mechanical Engineer / Piping Designer to join their growing team in Glasgow.
The Job
you will:
- Develop conceptual layouts for overfill piping protection systems
- Develop overall design reports for the FEED projects.
- Designing overfill protection systems to comply with stringent national, international and project-
- specific requirements across the UK, Africa, Middle East and Asia
- Design overfill protection systems to comply with stringent national, international and project- specific requirements across the UK, Africa, Middle East and Asia
- Lead and support piping designs for modifications of existing plants and for new build plants
- Work on UK and International Projects
- Ensure all piping designs are compliant with international and local codes and standards
- Produce drawings, models, and sketches that meet the clients’ specifications
- Potentially undertake Site Surveys
- Keep piping designs as sustainable and cost effective as possible
- Communicate with vendors, contractors, and clients at all levels of management
The Candidate
The ideal person will have
- Minimum HND in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ year experience is necessary in the Petrochemical sector
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Knowledge of EU standards relating to process pipework
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
