Electrical Design Engineer
Boyd Recruitment are currently recruiting an ambitious Graduate Electrical Design Engineer for a Global Energy and Retail Solutions provider based in South Lanarkshire.
Our client operates across several markets but are particularly strong in the petrochemical industry with several long-term clients who have a healthy pipeline of future projects.
They are looking to source a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer with 1-2 years experience or an already established Electrical Design Engineer looking for a fresh challenge. The Job
As Graduate/Electrical Design Engineer will have the following duties:
- Provide E&I input to 3D models, where applicable using AMTEC, AutoCAD & Electrical OM.
- The ability to produce drawings from site sketches to enable manufacture and installation of switchgear and distribution boards, feeder pillars.
- To ensure that applicable legislation, standards, and procedures are applied across all aspects of E&I delivery to the Project. These include but are not limited to: British and EN and ISO Standards, company procedures and processes, client codes and standards, HS&E Regulations and EU Directives (preferably including ATEX).
- To identify and implement safe, cost effective, fit for purpose, field proven designs.
- To maximise opportunities within design, to improve installation operability, safety, and maintainability.
- To provide technical input during the design phase with an emphasis on safety, constructability, and maintainability of the design.
- To identify deviations to standards where necessary, ensuring acceptance and approval by client Technical representative or agent.
- To provide technical interfacing with all other disciplines, subcontractors, and specialist engineering vendors.
- To report progress against project plans, noting any areas of concern and identifying corrective actions.
- Responsible for the control of approved design hours and cost within their own discipline, dealing with any potential growth in a timely manner and without exceeding approved budgets.
- To provide technical input / authoring of the respective discipline element of a project including Basis of Design (BOD), Scope of Work (SOW) and Statement of Requirements (SOR).
- To provide technical input to the business where required
- Must be fully aligned with 18th Edition regs.
The Person
The ideal Graduate/Electrical Design Engineer candidate will have the following:
- Degree educated in Electrical Engineering
- Enthusiasm to learn a fast-faced and growing industry.

- Interpersonal skills in dealing with client & stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail
The following is desired but not necessary:
- Previous experience working in a Design office.
- Proficiency with AMTEC, AutoCAD & Electrical OM
