ESTIMATOR - Glasgow
Boyd Recruitment are recruiting an Estimator for our client who are a construction company based in Glasgow.
The successful Estimator will join the Estimating department and assist with tendering activities across the group.
The ideal candidate should have a variety of experience across sectors including housing, commercial and education, for projects ranging in value from £100,000 to £100 million.
The Job
As Estimator you will have full responsibility for handling tender opportunities throughout the
estimating cycle. You will be reporting directly to the Estimating Manager and liaising with all other departments for input and support as required.
- Preparing supplier/sub-contractor enquiries to be issued to the supply chain
- Creation of pricing documentation including take-off/quantification
requirements, for internal and external parties.
- Obtaining quotations from sub-contractors; analysis and negotiation of best
value offers.
- Resolve ambiguities in tender documents and respond to queries from subcontractors.
- Compile full tender price information including preliminaries and all work sections; including highlighting areas where added value can be created.
- Prepare information packages for handover to the construction team.
- Brief project team on tender bids and attend internal meetings.
The Person
The successful Estimator will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a main contracting or sub-contracting environment.
A meticulous approach to your work is necessary, along with being able to cope well under pressure. You must have the ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines.
Part of the role involves assisting other less experienced members of the estimating department and supporting their development.
- Strong interpersonal and reporting skills
- Good all-around IT capabilities
- Traditional and Design and Build projects advantageous
- Analysing Risk and Opportunities
- Identifying and pricing Value Engineering
- Liaising with Suppliers and Sub-contractors
- Take-offs using an Estimating Software
- Estimating Software such as Conquest.
- A Full Driving Licence is essential
