Boyd Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of one of the UK's leading Mechanical & Electrical contactor who are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team based in Edinburgh. 

The Role

In this pivotal role, you will take full charge of the commercial control for your region. Your focus will be on implementing industry-leading practices to drive operational excellence. Working closely with regional directors, you’ll play a key role in shaping the team’s success, ensuring we consistently meet and exceed our targets.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and put into action a commercial strategy that aligns with our business goals.
• Provide insights on contracts, review terms, and negotiate to safeguard our interests.
• Handle payment applications and negotiate final accounts to ensure our finances are in good shape.
• Oversee all contractual details for projects, including payments, changes, and deadlines.
• Assess variations and help the team find potential opportunities.
• Manage the entire subcontractor process, from drafting contracts to negotiating terms.
• Lead the monthly reporting process and help forecast revenue and profit.
• Identify and report on commercial risks and opportunities as they arise.

What We’re Looking For

We want a dynamic person who loves construction, has a keen eye for detail, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience in a similar role in the construction industry (experience in building services is a bonus.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred but not essential.
• Strong numerical, communication, and IT skills, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Confident, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
